Hourglass

So many tides
Ebbing and rising
Receding and flowing
The moon tugging
Emotions riding the waves
Deep despair of soul and mind
A study in melancholy
A lesson in lonliness
Then someone flips the hourglass
Upside down
Small pleasures become large
And sadness temporarily recedes
Each day a study in life and its wonders
Then the hourglass is flipped once again
And the darkness descends
Sorrow and sadness
Live within, once again.
