Helpless

I'm feeling a little... helpless.
There are a few people who I care about very much; people who are in pain, people who I would like to be able to reach out to and say something encouraging or special to.
I'd like to say something to help, but I can't. I can't think of any words which seem right. I can't seem to find any words that are strong enough in meaning to get my point across. The only ones I have are "I love you", and "I'm here for you."
I'm just afraid that no matter how much I mean it, it's not going to make a difference. What's most useful??? I know that when the word love embodies something real, it can't be said enough, but I'd just like to have something else to go with it.
Maybe I'll just have to let that be enough.....
